The Low Down On Wall Tents

Why a White Duck Outdoors Wall Tent?

White Duck Outdoors Wall Tents are built with heavier, higher-quality canvas than most competitors. In fact, our canvas was independently tested and came back 15% stronger than comparable fabrics on the market.

What really sets us apart? Everything comes standard.

Unlike other brands that sell essentials separately, our wall tents arrive as a complete package, including:

  • Heavy-duty frame & angle kits
  • Extra-large windows
  • Groundsheet
  • Sod cloth / wall skirting

No surprise add-ons. No inflated pricing. Just a rugged, ready-to-go setup designed for real outdoor use.

Our Alpha Wall Tents are made from 100% breathable cotton canvas, offering excellent weather protection while still allowing airflow. Combined with best-in-class manufacturing standards, these tents are built to handle serious weather—season after season.

Water-resistant vs. water-repellent vs. waterproof — what’s the difference?

  • Water-resistant:

The lowest level of protection. Tightly woven fabric can slow water penetration, but moisture will eventually seep through.
  • Water-repellent:

Treated fabric that causes water to bead up and roll off the surface while still remaining breathable.
  • Waterproof:

Completely impervious to water—but also not breathable, which leads to condensation buildup.

Our canvas tents use a silicone-based treatment (similar to the renowned Sunforger® process) that maintains the canvas’s natural breathability while dramatically improving water repellency. This treatment also protects against UV rays, mold, and mildew, without the added weight or inconsistency of traditional wax coatings.

Are these wall tents fire-retardant?

Yes. Our Alpha Wall Tents are available in two fabric options:

  • Water Repellent
  • Fire & Water Repellent

Both options are also mold and mildew resistant.

Does the tent include a frame?

Absolutely.

Every wall tent includes a heavy-duty aluminum frame and angle kit—no extra purchase required.

What kind of zippers are used?

We use top-rated, military-grade YKK zippers on both canvas and mesh doors for long-term durability and smooth operation.

Does it come with a groundsheet?

Yes.

All tents include a free-floating 16 oz PVC groundsheet, designed to keep moisture, dirt, and insects out. Many competitors charge extra for this—we don’t.

Is a stove jack included?

Yes.

Every tent comes with a pre-installed stove jack, compatible with 5” or 6” stove pipes. It’s made from heat-resistant, silicone-coated material and includes a weather flap to protect the canvas from heat and moisture.

How do I choose the right stove?

It depends on:

  • Tent size
  • Intended use
  • Weight and portability needs

Larger stoves provide longer burn times and accept bigger logs, while smaller stoves are lighter and easier to transport.

What is a sod cloth / wall skirting / mud flap?

It’s a 10–15 inch strip sewn around the bottom of the tent to seal it against the ground. Ours is made from heavy-duty 16 oz UV-resistant vinyl, helping block wind, rain, bugs, and drafts. It works on any terrain and can be positioned inside or outside the tent.

How many windows are included?

Alpha Wall Tents feature:

  • 4 large, triangular, 3-layer storm windows
  • 6 windows on the 16’ × 20’ model

Each window includes mesh, canvas, and storm flaps for ventilation or full weather protection. Many competitors include only one window and charge extra for more.

How many doors are there?

One front canvas door with:

  • Bug mesh
  • Buckle fastening system
  • Canvas storm flap for added rain and wind protection

Are wall tents hard to set up?

Not at all.

With two people, setup typically takes 30–40 minutes the first time. The canvas and frame are heavy-duty, so an extra set of hands helps.

Can wall tents be used long-term?

Yes.

They’re designed for extended stays, whether seasonal camping or semi-permanent setups. Just clean and dry your tent periodically to prevent mold or mildew.

Does it come with a storage bag?

Yes.

We include a zippered, waterproof polyester storage bag with carry straps for your tent, poles, and hardware—another item many brands charge extra for.

Are stakes and ropes included?

Yes.

Each tent includes:

  • Heavy-duty stakes
  • UV-resistant polyester Dura rope
  • Elastic shock-absorbing bungee system for improved wind resistance

What’s the difference between an awning, porch, and cook shack?

  • Awning: Extends the roofline over the front of the tent
  • Porch: Adds roof and side walls in front of the tent
  • Cook Shack: Fully enclosed extension with roof, walls, and end panel

How does the tent handle wind?

We’ve tested these tents in 40+ mph winds during elk season. With proper staking and the included bungee tie-down system, they perform exceptionally well in strong gusts.

How is ventilation?

Excellent.

  • Multiple windows provide cross-ventilation
  • Breathable cotton canvas naturally reduces moisture buildup
  • Far better airflow than synthetic or plastic tents

Do you sell rain flys and porches?

Yes.

Fly sheets and porches are available separately in all four sizes:

  • 10’ × 12’
  • 12’ × 14’
  • 14’ × 16’
  • 16’ × 20’

How do I repair a burn hole?

The best solution is to sew a patch over the damaged area.

Will condensation build up with a propane heater?

Propane heaters release moisture, which can cause condensation. Proper ventilation is critical for comfort and safety. Always ensure airflow, use a carbon monoxide detector, and avoid running heaters unattended while sleeping.

How do I manage snow accumulation?

No tent frame can safely support heavy, wet snow for extended periods. To reduce risk:

  • Use snow load poles
  • Run a tent stove to help melt fresh snowfall
  • Periodically brush snow off the canvas from outside or gently from inside

Bottom line

Choose the wall tent that fits your needs, and you’ll get a durable, fully equipped, thoughtfully designed shelter built to perform in real outdoor conditions—without hidden costs or compromises.

What material are Alpha Wall Tents made from?

From blazing summer sun to bone-chilling winter nights, Alpha Wall Tents are built to keep you comfortable in just about any weather Mother Nature throws your way.

We use 100% cotton canvas because it simply performs better outdoors. Cotton canvas is naturally breathable, allowing airflow that helps dry out moisture and reduce humidity inside the tent. That means less condensation, better temperature regulation, and a more comfortable space overall. It’s also waterproof and tough enough to handle long-term outdoor use.

At the heart of every White Duck Outdoors wall tent is a high-quality, tightly woven cotton duck canvas. Specifically, we use 10.10 oz double-fill Army Duck fabric, chosen for its durability, breathability, and all-season performance.

In short: it’s rugged where it counts, breathable where it matters, and made to keep you cozy in the harshest conditions.

How many sizes are available—and which one should you choose?

Our wall tents come in four popular sizes to fit everything from small family trips to larger group adventures:

  • 10’ × 12’
  • 12’ × 14’
  • 14’ × 16’
  • 16’ × 20’

The easiest way to choose the right size is to think about what you’re bringing with you—beds or cots, a stove, gear, pets, and how much room you want to move around comfortably. A little extra space goes a long way, especially for longer stays.
